This chicken dish is very easy to throw together at the last minute or even make ahead and then just stick in the oven. Another one of our go-to’s here at The Mess Masters that our clients request on the reg!
12 ounces penne ziti
2 c shredded, cooked chicken (Costco roasted chickens are great for this!)
3-4 cups of pasta sauce
1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1/3 cup Parmesan – freshly grated
1/4 cup roughly chopped fresh basil
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Cook the pasta al dente in a large stockpot of salted water according to package instructions. Drain. return pasta to the stock pot and add chicken and pasta sauce. Toss to combine until the pasta is evenly coated.
Pour half the pasta into a greased 9×13 basking dish. Sprinkle evenly with 1 cup mozzarella cheese, half of the Parmesan cheese and half of the basil. Layer the remaining half of the pasta on top. Sprinkle with the remaining 1/2 cup of mozzarella cheese.
Bake for 20-25 minutes until the cheese is melted and just started to brown up. Remove and add the remaining Parmesan cheese and basil.
Ta -da! Your family will thank you – you’re w’elcome!
